Guide researched from official sources; not a firsthand visit
Chanoki Shrine is an Inari shrine in Nihonbashi Ningyocho. It enshrines Hotei as part of the Nihonbashi Seven Lucky Gods pilgrimage. Its name is associated with tea bushes around the shrine. It can be included in a walk between Koami Shrine and Suitengu.
Where to ask for a goshuin
- Reception location
- The shrine's official website directs visitors to the office beside the shrine. Worship first, then follow the day's notices.
- Hours and method
- We could not confirm ordinary-day goshuin hours or whether writing directly into a book is available from the shrine's official page. Check your intended date in advance; staff may be absent or arrangements may change.
- Offering
- The pilgrimage organizer's page lists ¥500 for a goshuin alongside its New Year 2026 notice. This does not establish every ordinary-day design or future New Year price. Confirm the offering at reception.
- Goshuin photograph
- We are awaiting a usable photograph of this shrine's goshuin. We have not substituted a seal from another shrine.
Tea bushes, fire protection and Hotei
The principal deity is Ukanomitama-no-Okami. The official history describes the shrine as a guardian of the Hotta family's Edo residence, connected with the Sakura domain in Shimosa. Tea bushes are associated with the affectionate name Ochanoki-sama.
The shrine has been revered for protection against fire. Hotei was enshrined in 1985, making it one of the Nihonbashi Seven Lucky Gods shrines. This account summarizes official information; it is not a description of a visit by our editor.
Address and access
Address: 1-12-10 Nihonbashi Ningyocho, Chuo-ku, Tokyo. Include it in a walk from the Ningyocho or Suitengumae area. The shrine states that it has no parking. Drivers should check nearby parking arrangements separately.
Pilgrimage items and ordinary goshuin are separate
The organizer's New Year 2026 notice says completed pilgrimage boards and treasure boats were offered at six shrines, excluding Chanoki. This does not mean that Chanoki never offers ordinary goshuin. We have not confirmed the arrangements for New Year 2027.
