Tegona Reijindo is a place of Tegona worship in Mama, Ichikawa City. I checked the official information about the opening hours and directions from the station along with the photo of the title I received previously. We will guide you as a place of worship separate from the nearby Mamasan Guhoji Temple.

Photo of the title and Tegona's faith
The overlaid photograph shows “Namu Myoho Renge Kyo” and Tegona Reijindo's seal. Although sometimes grouped under goshuin, it is described here more precisely as an odaimoku inscription.
The stories surrounding Tegona are folklore passed down in this area. Please read it as a story to understand the background of the faith, rather than combining the introduction of the origin with the proven history.
Points to check when visiting together with Guhoji Temple
Tegona Reijindo and Mamasan Guhoji are close together but occupy separate sites. Do not assume that one counter issues both places' inscriptions; visit each and confirm its arrangements.
The official announcement states that depending on the situation at Guhoji Temple, annual events may not go back to normal. If you are planning to participate in an event or pray, please check the latest announcements and reservation conditions in addition to regular worship for goshuin purposes.

Located at the foot of Mt. Mama, this shrine is dedicated to Tegona Reishin, and is famous for its blessings on safe childbirth and child rearing.
Perhaps because of its connection to the Manyoshu, there are many depictions of poets on the ceiling of the Reijindo Hall, and I was very interested to see them during the time I was receiving the title.
Tegona Reijindo

It is said that a long time ago (the chief priest says it was before the Heian period) there lived a very beautiful girl named “Tegona” in the village of Mama.
It is said that men fought to marry Tegona because she was so beautiful.
Saddened that men were fighting and being injured because of her, the kind-hearted Tegona is said to have drowned herself in the inlet at Mama.
The people of the village took pity on Tegona's feelings, built a shrine, buried her with care, and passed down the story of this kind-hearted girl.
“I have seen it myself; I shall tell others where Tegona of Mama in Katsushika lies buried.”

This poem was composed by Yamabe no Akahito, the renowned Manyoshu poet, after visiting the area.
[Achieving a good match] [Filial child conception] [Safe and easy delivery] [Nursing a healthy child]
Tegona's beautiful and sad story is said to have spread as far as the capital of Kyoto.
It is said that during the Muromachi period, Tegona, who was grateful for the generous condolences, appeared in a dream to a priest and made four vows.
Notes from the visit

While I was visiting the shrine, I saw many locals clasping their hands together as they passed by.
A stone figure believed to represent Tegona stood within the grounds. Pouring water over it and polishing it is traditionally associated with blessings.
It was a wonderful temple that is still worshiped by many people as a local goddess.
There was also a shrine on the premises, but I don't know the details...
Nearby there was a very fine wisteria tree called [Yaekokuryu], although it was not in bloom.
Required time
About 30 minutes
When you enter from the side of the offering box in the main hall, a monk will come out from the back.
I was able to ask for the amulet and goshuin there.
After receiving goshuin, I was able to ask about its auspicious origins.
