Edo Thirty-three Kannon is a sacred place that tours Kannon temples in Tokyo. Even in the same pilgrimage, the method of receiving goshuin is different for each temple. First, know the locations of the temples, check the counters and sutra payment conditions for each place you visit, and then plan your itinerary for each day.
What you need to know first
- Temple
- The table below shows the 33 temples, from No. 1 Sensoji Temple to No. 33 Takisenji Temple.
- List source
- This is a list published by No. 12 Dentsuin on November 5, 2026, and the number, temple name, and location are checked.
- Conditions for goshuin
- Please check with each temple for reception hours, offering, and sutra delivery conditions. We do not provide a uniform price or method.
- Records of Hasedera Temple
- For No. 22 Hasedera Temple, the proof of visit is basically pre-written goshuin on a separate sheet, and the entry in goshuin book is when you copy the sutra.
Make it a reasonable pilgrimage by dividing it into areas that are close to each other.
Even among temples in Tokyo, the proximity of numbers does not necessarily match the ease of movement. Check the location on the map below and group together temples in the same area to make your planning easier.
Please allow for not only travel time, but also time for reading sutras, praying, copying sutras, and waiting for reception. Even when the temple gates are open, reception at the temple may be closed, so it's a good idea to check the closing time of the temple you're visiting in the afternoon.
Goshuin handwritten directly in your book and pre-written goshuin on a separate sheet, check the sutra delivery conditions for each temple.
Hasedera No. 22 is the Tokyo branch of Eiheiji Temple in Nishiazabu. Please also check the temple number and location to avoid confusing it with a temple with the same name in Kamakura or elsewhere. Officially, goshuin as a record of a visit is basically changed to pre-written goshuin on a separate sheet, and instructions are given for copying the sutra to be recorded in goshuin book.
The explanation that “goshuin does not require any copying of sutras” ignores the conditions for such a temple. If you would like the goshuin seen in the photo, please check the handling and reception procedures on the day of your request.
